The summer of 2002 saw the very first CD release by Two Guys with Guitars. This disc contained 18 tracks of their best work spanning the years from the early 80’s to the mid 90’s. Three of the tracks, “Playing Rock & Roll In a Country Bar”, “Tina Marie ’73”, and “She Doesn’t Always Get What She Wants” went on to be included in their 2004 release of “It’s What We Do”. “Satin Dew” and “The Chance” were added to the 2010 re-release of the same.
June of 2004 saw the release of the Two Guys with Guitars disc “It’s What We Do”. The 13 tracks on this disc contains both personal and fan favorites such as “Tina Marie ’73”, “Playing Rock & Roll in a Country Bar”, “All We Do is Say Goodbye”, “Feels Like Love”, “Little Beavers” and “Million Days” mixed with a handful of new compositions such as “She’s the One”, “Men of Steel”, “Wyoming Rock”, “Love is My Drug”, “This Dream” and the their latest “Christmastime”.
In October of 2004 the guys released the single “Christmastime”, an anthem advocating a little sensible thought and an effort for peace. The limited release single has found its way to locations nationally as well as many internationally.
The late summer of 2005 saw the release of My Comfort, one of their older compositions and another fan favorite, often requested at live shows. Their good friend Rob Svalina plays lead guitar on this track. The photo was taken in the Wind River Mountains.
With the limited release of Cold Day in Heaven in the late winter of 2005, a tradition was beginning to emerge that the Two Guys with Guitars singles would be featuring lyrics and the guys own photography of places in Wyoming. Also, they were releasing material sometimes not found on another album, soon making these collectible to their fans. This song was also recorded in a different studio than the one they normally use. This is another song featuring the excellent, tasteful piece of guitar work by Rob Svalina.
Late spring of 2006 saw another limited release, the single “Men of Steel”, a work about work, specifically underground mining and a job Two Guys with Guitars knew only too well, having worked underground mines all of their adult lives. Ray and Bill both have from great-grandfathers to fathers and uncles who proudly gave their hard work and risked their lives in a profession that kills and maims many good men every year all over the globe. Yes, some of there own were indeed killed. “Raise a glass to these men”!
Satin Dew was released in the autumn of 2006, a hauntingly beautiful song featuring one of Bill’s rare appearances on lead guitar. That’s also Bill on the bass. The story goes that when Ray received the first cassette demo from Bill, he said, “that’s exactly how I heard it in my head.” There’s always been something magical when these Two Guys get together. Another personal and fan favorite.
Water Under the Bridge, released in June of 2008 is a reflective piece of days gone by and how time waits for no one or the plans that were made. Erin Hall supplies the understated piano, while long time friend and bandmate, Lyle Howe, lays down another signature lead guitar riff.
Feels Like Love, an intensely personal song from Bill, was the second Two Guys with Guitars single release of 2008. The song was born in a camp trailer behind Bill’s mother’s house the night he buried his father. Fueled with loneliness, a six pack of beer and inspiration to find something good on such a mega-downer of a day, he wrote a song about love. “The song just wrote itself,” he says. “I don’t know that I had to put any thought to it at all. The words just fell into the music by themselves. Maybe it was my Dad telling me to look forward.” The late Steve Howe laid down the perfect lead guitar to the rock & roll/reggae beat and the guys long time bassist, John Schell is responsible for the great bass riff.
The Long Run was the Guys final release of 2008, a Rockin’ Country type of song with another of Lyle Howes’ blistering guitar solos. The song was written in the fall of 1990 in upstate New York. The photo for this single of Pilot Butte and wild horses represents a landmark and a way of life for southwestern wyoming.
April of 2010 saw the first major release of “It’s What We Do”. Two more tracks were added by popular demand; “Satin Dew”‘ and “The Chance”, bringing the total to 15 with nearly an hours worth of listening pleasure. The graphics were improved and the music professionally remastered resulting in an all around better product.
The guys are currently working on new material for another major CD release. There are also plans to remaster more of their older fan favorites from their days of touring with their band Road Damage.
